Under the Boardwalk

With summer drawing to a close, we only have a few more weeks until September
and the start of fall. But most of all, the most beloved time of the year, Mercedes
Benz Fashion Week! There is exactly two more weeks until September 1st, just
enough time for the last opportunities to bare your mid-drift this season! Check out
one of my favorite summer styles in my daily outfit, taken while I was on vacation a
few short weeks ago. Crop tops have come into play a lot this season and they're a
fun piece to hang around town in. This outfit expresses everything care free and fun
about summer. If you are heading down to the beach for some last minute sun or you
reside in a town that's blessed with sun and sand all year 'round, try pairing a crop
top with pants, shorts, or my favorite, a maxi skirt, for this warm weather look!

Must Have: Maxi Dresses

This summer has been all about maxi dresses. You can find various maxi dresses in
different colors, materials, and designs. The best thing about maxi dresses is that
they are fairly inexpensive and you can either dress them up, or throw it on for a
casual, running around town look. I like to break up the maxi's long silhouette by
pairing it with a belt like in today's look. How do you rock your maxi dress?

"When in doubt, wear red."

It's been one week since I've been back from vacation and I apologize for the slacking
of the blog posts! This past week has been hectic with getting back into my usual grind.
And not to mention some exciting new news! This past week I have started my first
internship with the style legends at Glamour Magazine in New York! My first week has
been hard work, but I am no doubt, in love with every second of it!

However, as I promised, I have for everyone, a recap of some of the outfits I sported
while on vacation! Here is one of the first outfits, stayed tuned for more! I'm really in
love with this red skirt for its pop, but at the same time simplicity. It really adds
something to an outfit, without trying too hard or going over the top. Try adding a pop
of bold color to a simple outfit!

God Save the Queen

After seeing the late Alexander McQueen's exhibit, Savage Beauty, at the Metropolitan
Museum of Art, I came to better understand who Alexander McQueen was. While many
of McQueen's pieces may seem strange at first, your eyes are drawn to it, forcing you to
examine the beauties of it. At times the dresses were shocking, and at times even
disturbing, but to me, clothes are not meant to be glanced over. Fashion is supposed to
evoke emotion and that is what McQueen intended. Here are some of my favorite and
most breath-taking pieces of the exhibit.

Summer in the City

Today AJ and I adventured into the city for the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art. I don't think words could describe the wearable art

that the late Alexander McQueen had created. It was a truly breathtaking and

inspiring exhibit. The exhibit is nearing its last week of showing, therefore, if you

haven't seen it yet, you better sprint over to 5th Avenue to check it out! As for the

outfit of the day, we have finally gotten a break from the humid 100
degree weather!
Check out what I was sporting around Manhattan today!

Must-Have: Beach Tunics

In a few short weeks I will be going down the shore for some sun and sand. I was able
to get my hands on this great crochet tunic, which is the perfect beach cover-up. It's
cute, stylish, and easy to throw on over your bathing suite after a day of soaking up the
sun. Any tunic, crochet or not, is a great addition to your warm weather wardrobe.

Strike a Pose

I recently discovered the iPhone app Poser, which acts like a Facebook for all of the
glamazons out there. You can snap a photo of your current outfit or an item that you
just had to have and it allows you to share it with anyone with the Poser app. Fellow
Pose fans can "love" and even "follow" your profile. Pose had just featured a photo
from my "Neutral Territory" post, as well as a pair of wedges I just bought. The wedges
even made it to the Popular section, which was really awesome! Download Pose now
to post your own fashions, as well as follow mine! Discover me at: marafili

Neutral Territory

Yesterday, AJ took me out for lunch and some ice cream on the boardwalk. It was a
perfect, lazy day off - sunny with a light breeze coming off of the
lake. Try pairing
a simple top with a fun, flowy skirt for an effortless look
that is chic and simple for
a relaxing summer day.

Short Story

I have kept all of you hanging for quite some time now. Having your wisdom
teeth taking out are not a girl's most beautiful moments.
But school is out,
the summer sun is shining, and I am ready to bring
you more of my favorite
fashions. Shorts have always been summer's
must have piece of clothing.
You can always catch me sporting some pretty
short numbers throughout
the seas
on! Since I am only 5'0, shorter shorts do the trick for making my
legs seem longer. Glamour Magazine has
described the perfect shorts for if
you are pear-shaped, have long legs,
or are plus-sized, in their article on-line
article,
"How to Find the Best Shorts for Your Legs."

Oh So Glamour-ous

Gossip Girl star, Blake Lively is looking gorgeous in this month's issue of Glamour
Magazine. And for those of you who haven't gotten the issue yet, I suggest you sprint
to your local news stand to pick up a copy. Here's a few of the photographs from her
photo shoot. It is no surprise that Karl Lagerfeld would choose her as the new face of
Chanel.

Color Me Wonderful

What better way to show off your summer style than through your nail polish?
I love the endless assortment of nail polish hues available and you'll n
ever catch me
without a pop of color on my fingers. Nail polish is a fun way to show off your mood
and not to mention compliments any outfit. Trending for this season are bright pinks
and oranges. Check out Essie's Braziliant Collection to keep those hands happy this

Let Me See Your: Geometric Prints

Summer is in full swing and there has never been a better time to experiment with
some patterns and fabric that you maybe have not tried in the past. Right now,
I find
myself falling for geometric prints! The shorts showcased in the photos from
my daily
outfit are one of my favorite buys for this summer. They're fun, different,
and playful.
Pairing patterns with your outfit always makes it a little more interesting.

Fashion Feature: Bethenny Frankel

Today was a very exciting day! I headed to work as usual and guess who I spot
within 5 minutes of coming to work.. Bethenny Frankel's husband Jason! Eeeek!
For
those of you who don't know, Bethenny Frankel is a former Real Housewife of
New York, creator of Skinny Girl Margarita, natural food chef, New York Times
Best Seller, and now star of her own spin off show on Bravo, Bet
hanny Ever After.
She is one of the few reality television stars who is more about real life and less
about drama. She is absolutely hilarious and completely fabulous! Therefore, I've
decided to share with you some of my favorite fashions that Bethanny has seen
sporting.
